Sep 1-30  JIAA Exhibit

Open Mon-Fri 12-4, Sat-Sun 10-4 – Goodyear Cottage Art Gallery and Gift Shop, Jekyll Island Historic District. Sculpture by Dale McEntire, Paintings by Karen Sammons. Meet the Artists Sep 5th 1-4 pm. Local artwork available for purchase. Free Admission.

Sep 1-30  9th Annual Plein Air Affair Exhibition

Open Wed-Sun 9-5: Hofwyl-Broadfield Historic Site, Brunswick. Eighteen artists have their work on display:  Jackson Bowen, Jennifer Broadus, Christina DeVillers, Suzy Dmetruk, Linda Dotter, Mercy Dotter, Chris Dougherty, Stephanie Giles, Janis Hogan, Judy Johnson, Patricia Klinefelter, Linda Lanter, Joyce Ledingham, Judy Missildine, Abby Howard Murphy, George Netherton, Lori Ann Sweet, and Kristina Wright. Paintings were created on-site.

Sep 1-24  Art Teachers’ Exhibit

Tues-Fri 9-5: Millie Wilcox Gallery in the Ritz Theatre in Downtown Brunswick. Welcome back to school with annual exhibit of artwork created by the individuals who are teaching our students! Creative and imaginative, these visual art teachers inspire with their distinctive visions.

Sep 3  First Friday

5-8 PM: Downtown Brunswick. Come check out the classic cars, live music, food trucks and libations. Stroll from square to square and shop to shop along Newcastle Street while catching up with family and friends.

Sep 8  Film: Bad Education

7 pm: SSI Casino. Literary Guild of St. Simons presents a screening of Bad Education, directed by Cory Finley. Hugh Jackman shines as the beloved superintendent of New York’s Roslyn school district on Long Island. 148 minutes; Rated PG 13. Free and open to all, although a $3.00 donation is suggested to offset film rental fees.

Sep 9-12  Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife

Sep 19  Sounds by the Sea featuring Backbeat Boulevard

7-9 pm – Neptune Park, SSI: Music is in the air and by the sea, showcasing the best local and regional musicians. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and a lawn chair or blanket to relax on. NEW IN 2021 – Tickets should be purchased in advance. Sep 22  Film: A Taxi Driver

7 pm: St. Simons Island Casino. Literary Guild of St. Simons presents a screening of A Taxi Driver, directed by Hun Jang. A widowed father and taxi driver is caught up in the violence around him during the 1980 uprising. In Korean with English subtitles; Rated R; 137 minutes. Free and open to all, although a $3.00 donation is suggested to offset film rental fees.

Sep 25  Crafts Along Newcastle

11-3: Newcastle St Squares, Historic Downtown Brunswick. Local Crafters and Artisans display their work for sale. Unique shopping opportunity!

Sep 28-29  Painting workshop

9:30-12 – McIntosh County Art Association, Old Jail Art Center, Darien. George Netherton teaches this two-day workshop to hone your skills and get to the next level of painting in acrylic and oil, no matter what your style. Workshop fee is $60. Sep 29  Meet the Author: Gervais Hagerty

10:30 AM: Rm 108, SSI Casino. Literary Guild of St. Simons presents Gervais Hagerty to discuss her debut novel In Polite Company, a look inside the private lives of Charleston aristocracy. Free for members, $10 for non-members. More information at litguildssi.org
