Kristen Cummings says her best personal asset is her SMILE. She is age 29, headed for the big 3-0. A Brunswick High class of 2007 graduate, Kristen lives locally with her mom and dad. She likes to dote on her toddler nephew and is excited about her new niece’s arrival.
Kristen’s story is about regaining personal confidence. “I was born with childhood diabetes, which runs on both sides of my family. The first time I had a related diabetes episode was just after high school graduation… my 2017 diabetic episode affected my kidneys and bladder and sent me to the hospital. I got a little better and then relapsed into septic shock. I was in the hospital almost three months on a lot of medication that made me lose a lot of weight and affected my teeth.”
Kristen’s strong-will has enabled her to slowly regain strength. “I had nice-looking teeth before all this happened, and I really wanted them back. It kept me from being around people, and it just wasn’t me not to smile all the time because I love people and love to talk! I did some research and turned to Dr. Angela Britt. I needed the extra confidence she could help me to regain. Her staff has been amazing; they are like my second family now.”
“The whole process took about six months. Nowadays, I feel stronger. I’m getting back to myself, so I’m telling my story. Little by little I’m gaining strength, eating healthy and keeping track of my blood sugar, making sure my health is okay. I’m planning on going to cosmetology school soon to be an esthetician.”
Dentistry by Angela Britt:
“Kristen is a beautiful young lady who lost confidence in her smile due to health issues over the past few years. She had a lot of decay in her teeth and had one tooth extracted. Our treatment plan consisted of not only restoring her teeth back to proper function, but also giving her a beautiful smile to go along with her radiant personality. We placed one implant on the lower arch. All her upper and lower teeth were crowned with porcelain restorations. She has such a gorgeous face and perfect lips to frame her new smile. Kristen is such a lovely person, and it was a pleasure helping her achieve her goal. I’m so blessed to know her, and we are thrilled with her outcome,” said Dr. Britt.
Kristen’s Final Touches:
Kristen went to Maggie’s Boutique to meet with Gail Stringer for a new stylish ensemble to put even more spring in her step. Jewelry by Meghan Browne Style (chain linked necklace with glitter medallion, bracelets, gold hoop earrings) was selected to accessorize the LBH Design Group top in vermillion matched perfectly with a pair of Krazy Larry slacks, which are known as the best fitting, most comfortably chic pants on the planet.
Iris Hopgood was happy to provide Kristen’s makeup lesson. She used illuminating moisturizer to even out combination skin, and saw no need for foundation. Instead she used a little shimmer, spot concealer and powder. For Kristen’s eyes, mascara, daytime eyeshadow and eyeliner completed the look. Iris told Kristen to think of lip liner as her best tool in showcasing her brilliant new smile. A little blush and lip color brilliantly accentuated Kristen’s new happy smile.
“I believe it’s important to focus on and invest in yourself to work with what makes you happy. Whatever you’re going through won’t last forever. I’m almost 100 percent back now, and I’m smiling all the way!”
