Welcome to Paisley Magazine’s #Ms.Independent July issue! Meet KayLee and Hashondra Smith, Mayor Kizzi Knight, Tara Heaton and July cover artist, Georgia Lobo. And it’s time for our annual PET Issue of “purr-love” on three pages; 22 - 24. Plus, there are a couple of community events that you don’t want to miss.
On St. Simons Island, Coastal Georgia Historical Society’s World War II Homefront Museum reflects a powerful time in our nation’s history. Brunswick’s J.A. Jones Shipyard saw thousands, mostly locals and people from surrounding Georgia farm towns, meet America’s increased wartime production demand. A total of 99 award-winning cargo-hauling Liberty Ships were constructed and launched (usually one per week) by a dedicated round-the-clock work force which included many minorities and women. Ticket details: www.coastalgeorgiahistory.org.
St. Simons annual Sunshine Festival & Arts and Crafts show begins July 3rd, 10am to 5pm at Postell Park daily through July 5. The 4th of July Golf Cart Parade with usually over 100 festive patriotic golf cart entries will line up at Mallory Park - Parade begins 2:30 pm. Details: goldenisles.com and soglogallery.com.
