Oxymoron Supermoon

by Holiday Mathis

The supermoon in Virgo is an oxymoronic lunar phenomenon, a mix of ego and humility that shines the light of publicity on often unsung virtues. The path to connecting with others this month will be through such soft and self-less states as gratitude, modesty, empathy and patience. To subvert one's own ego-drives in order to really observe what's going on for others will bring about a great unfolding of magnificent spiritual gifts.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). When someone says, "Let's unpack this..." what they mean is that they care enough to really understand you, or that they are ready to judge you, depending on the person. This week, you're ready to open yourself up to the right people, and you're paying attention so that you'll know who those people are.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). This week, your life will be like a game of chess. Once another person makes a move, it will seem automatic and normal to make a countermove. In fact, if you don't react, stagnation sets in. The game must progress. Your ability to see a few plays ahead will give you an advantage.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Beauty sends the human spirit airborne. This is why people pay the big-ticket price for a ballet, art or gorgeous fashion pieces. Make no mistake, you don't have to pay. Costless beauty is everywhere this week, in trees, skies, a loved one's eyes, in smiles. Get your fill of the free stuff!

CANCER (June 22-July 22). From the annals of simplistic, redundant, mundane wisdoms: "What's done is done" and "it is what it is." Perhaps these are lazy ways of saying, "Accept and move on." In the name of progress, lazy is fine; effort would be wasted. These simple truisms make way for a no-drama, keep-walking approach.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). It takes confidence to be unassuming. Pride and boastfulness, on the other hand, signal low self-esteem. There's a balance to be struck in such matters. How can you convince yourself and others that you can handle things without trying too hard to prove it? The answer is to relax and accept yourself.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). To talk about the satisfying, enjoyable and wonderful events of your life will lift and charge you as long as it's to the right audience. To share with people who are on your side and who will take what you say in the spirit intended will bring a state of well-being to all. To share with envious types will bring trouble.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You'll pose questions so excellent that they will oxygenate rooms. Your questions will invite creativity, teamwork and solutions that, as brilliantly inventive as you are, you wouldn't have come up with on your own. Your gift for leadership will shine through the astute nature of your questions.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). What once made you feel pressured is now quite easy for you, which is positive on many levels. For one, you have a great deal of empathy for those who are less experienced, and for another, you are in a position to teach and help. In any regard, you are ready to move to the next stage of work.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). For some reason, you've come to think of certain health-promoting practices and accoutrements as luxuries and treats to be doled out only when you are extremely flush, in dire need or when you have worked extra hard to earn the reward. The problem? Your excellent health is an essential, not a luxury.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Negativity bias is a function of our brains, and we are not the only animals wired to think this way. However, unlike other animals, we are uniquely poised to choose different thoughts. If to ruminate on the negative is human, then to ruminate on the positive is superhuman.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). The types of opportunities available will not be the sort that come along every day or even once a season. Avoid later regret by answering definitively, and out of intuition rather than fear. Whatever happens, the most important thing is that you accept and embrace that, knowing it was right for the time.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Focus on where you're going. This will be better than most other lines of thought that will come automatically this week such as how you're feeling, what the other person is doing or how you're going to get there. Stay focused on the destination, and everything will fall into place.

THIS MONTH’S BIRTHDAYS: There's something of importance being built in the next 12 months, and you're a significant contributor. You've a keen eye for talent and an ear for hearing the cries of the soul. With these gifts, you'll help others understand their abilities and resources. As you give your creativity and problem-solving skills to others, you'll develop and appreciate yourself anew. Reinvest the financial bonuses that come in June and October. A magical experience of exploration happens in August.
