Hair’s to You!

Hair loss can be devastating for anyone. Many women and men have experienced significant hair loss after having Covid-19. While many people think of this as hair loss, it is actually hair shedding. It happens when more hairs than normal enter the shedding phase of the hair growth life cycle at the same time. A fever or illness can force more hairs into the shedding phase. Even if you never develop a fever or Covid-19, you may still see hair shedding. Emotional stress can also force more hairs than normal into the shedding phase, and who is not feeling more stressed and anxious these days? Most people see noticeable hair shedding two to three months after having Covid-19.
The same with stress, the shedding begins about two to three months after the stress starts. While seeing your hair fall out in clumps can add to your stress, it is also important to try to de-stress. Only when the stress ends will the excessive hair shedding stop. If you are one of the many who has experienced hair loss in this manner, please know it is not permanent. About three to six months after shedding, you will start to see new growth. Even better news is that there are ways to speed up the process of new hair growth. Eating healthy and drinking lots of water makes a huge difference in overall body and hair health. Vitamins (A, B complex, C, D and E) and minerals (iron and zinc) will have a potential role in rebuilding your immune system and your hair. Biotin is also a vitamin that is excellent in promoting hair and nail growth.
Another excellent product that you can use is a topical ointment called minoxidil. I suggest using the 5% minoxidil and rubbing it on your scalp a couple times a week at night. Another way to ensure the most rapid hair growth is microneedling the scalp. This not only rebuilds collagen, but also makes the hair follicles more receptive to soaking up the minoxidil. See a trained, licensed esthetician for microneedling. So, if you are one of the many who have lost hair, just like the pandemic, this too shall pass. Don’t stress, live healthy and fight hair loss like a boss lady!
Color for Everyone!

Here we go again! The holidays are coming like it or not! You must love the glamour of it all! Button up and be beautiful from head to toe! We are usually in a different character after the summer heat. The cooler and beautiful days and nights make us all feel a little better and relaxed. Looking forward to the festivities to come: Put your best face forward. Go that extra step for glamour and distinction. Color ranges for eyes/lips/cheeks are unlimited this season. You will find the color trends are more varied for 2022 fall/winter. Shades of blues, pinks, purples, greens and tangerines will allow every woman to be limitless and have fun with color again. Personalize your shades according to skin tone and comfort.
If you are an olive skin tone vibrant colors are magic! Pinks, berries and fuchsias are the way to go. Ivory skin tones should use refreshing blues and greens. Darker skin tones work best with inviting purples, turquoise and ruby. Reds and pinks are always for all tones. These hues and shades should always be in your palette.
Using the right brushes will allow you to control colors. The fluffier the hairs are on a brush (blush or powder/eyeshadow) the less color will impact. The slimmer, flatter pointy brushes (concealer, angled lip brush) will provide more impactful color. Just be sure to clean your brushes thoroughly every two weeks. Take care of your skin and tools, and you will use less make-up and spend less time in the mirror. Cosmetics sure can make you feel glamorous, confident and fun! Remember every skin tone looks better with a little color! Enjoy being a woman with all the choices you have! Let’s be beautiful together!
