President, First Coast Benefits Solutions, Inc
President Elect, Rotary Club of Brunswick
Board Member, Hospice of the Golden Isles
What does the phrase “The Sky’s the Limit” mean to you?
Opportunity is never limited.
What do you love most about your career and community volunteer work?
As an insurance broker, providing a client with a sense of relief and understanding is my ultimate goal. When someone ends a conversation and feels well informed, that gives me a personal sense of satisfaction, even if the news is not what they wanted to hear. Working with our clients to find solutions to what may be viewed as impossible situations is the most rewarding part of my job.
Volunteering allows me to work with people and on projects I would never otherwise have access to. Volunteering gives more to me than I could ever give to it.
Who was your mentor?
My grandfather, Ernest Odean Poole, was my greatest mentor. He instilled in all of us grandkids that doing what’s right is never situational. I enjoy such a sense of community from him, as well; Brunswick is our home.
Which appeals to you? “I’d like to fly” or “I’d like to fly away”:
I am afraid of heights so no flying for me!
If you had no fear, what’s the first thing you would do?
Then I WOULD fly and jump out of an airplane!
List three things you are a “sucker” for:
Funny videos, a laughing baby and time with my children, who are too busy to hang out with me and my husband, Wayne, anymore.
You possess a keen sense of humor and dry wit. What’s so great about laughter?
Laughter makes people feel at ease, and I enjoy others being comfortable. There is a light side to most situations, and I look for that lighter side.
What are some of your dreams you share with your children, Natalie and Ben?
Work hard! Don’t look for shortcuts as there are no lessons there. If you do what you say you are going to do, you have unlimited potential for whatever you want to achieve.
Which freedoms are you most grateful for?
Working with Rotary International and seeing people in other countries struggle with a lack of the most basic needs makes me grateful for the liberties and freedoms in our country. It is at the sacrifice of others we are afforded to live as we do.
These days, I’m roaring about…
an important local charity. As a board member for Hospice of the Golden Isles, it is an honor to work with this organization and see the amazing work they do. As the only local non-profit Hospice provider, they impact all families without boundaries of care, and do it with grace and professionalism.
