Colorful and chic, A Moveable Feast is a delightful café that brings international flavors to the Golden Isles you’re sure to relish. With daily specials that span the world, owner Tanya Sergey’s globetrotting cuisine is a delicious way to enlighten your palate.

Meet Owner & Chef Tanya:
Chef Tanya Sergey’s culinary experience began at an early age. Raised in a multi-cultural family—her father a Russian-American and her mother with German, Polish and Czech roots—Tanya looked forward to well-rounded, Eastern European fare for supper each night in her suburban Illinois, childhood home. When her family moved to California, Tanya began her trek into the restaurant biz as a cashier at the tender age of 13. A true foodie before we used the term, she and high-school friends would host dinner parties just to learn more about cooking. Her desire to soak in knowledge took an international turn when she moved to France to study abroad in college. There she furthered her to cooking skills with only a hot pot and electric wok. “The markets in Paris were cheap and bountiful. Learning to cook was a necessity and delight,” said Tanya.

Her culinary inclinations continued to grow as her study abroad program ignited a trail of more than 24 countries’ cuisines coloring her palate and tantalizing her taste buds. When she moved to Brunswick, she worked as a home chef, creating and delivering meals to families. After moving away again, she has returned, opening A Moveable Feast three years ago.

Eclectic, bright and always bustling, A Moveable Feast offers delicious menus with unique, worldly, flavor-filled soups, salads and sandwiches—all made with incredibly fresh ingredients. The usual menu is supplemented with weekly and daily specials offering a wide variety of flavors. Many of the dishes are created with lean proteins, which offer healthy and delicious options—always from scratch. When asked her favorite way to brighten food, Tanya said, “I love citrus and herbs. Give me something with lemon or lime, fresh basil, thyme, cilantro, oregano or parsley. A fresh herb and a squeeze of citrus totally perks up anything you are making.”  

While people come in for many reasons—healthy fare, an accommodating and personable staff, or diversity—one of the top reasons is the Honey Broiled Salmon (pictured above). Pan-seared with honey, salt and pepper; deglazed with bourbon and broiled to a perfect medium. It’s a fan fav and crave food that can only be satisfied at A Moveable Feast.

Not to mention, the dessert. Okay, I have to tell you... this was the absolute best chocolate cupcake I’ve ever tasted—moist and delicious! “All of our desserts our homemade. My daughter is gluten free, so we feature gluten-free entrees, sandwiches, wraps and desserts. My customers tell me my desserts are the best in the county and often order specialty whole cakes or cupcakes,” said Tanya.

The Vibe:
Colorful and eclectic, the newly renovated restaurant is warm and inviting. Featuring everything from bistro tables to larger “communal” tables, it’s perfect for a day date or gathering of friends. Both men and women flock to the stylish and comfortable café, where the atmosphere is friendly and the food is fine. Now diners can imbibe at the beautiful new bar, stocked with a wide wine selection to enhance the overall dining experience.

Culinary Tip:
When creating a dish think simple presentation and contrasting colors like orange salmon, roasted red potatoes and bright green broccolini. Contrasting colors are so inviting to the taste.

Wine Down:
While the restaurant offers an impressive selection (all of which are priced the exact same), one of A Moveable Feast’s specialties is a monthly four-course wine dinner, featuring food and wines from various chosen regions or countries. “We try to bring a lot of international flavors to the Golden Isles so people can come here and experience cuisine and wine from places they may never visit. We also feature local artists, and so there is an art opening every month with my homemade apps and wine,” said Tanya.

Let’s Party:
A Moveable Feast also offers a delectable catering menu for events of all sizes from cocktail parties to conferences, as well as quick and easy lunches. With a completely customizable menu and creative flair, they’re the perfect touch for your next special event.

The Secret Ingredient:
As I interviewed Tanya it was easy to see her passion and pride for not only her food, but also for helping people expand their food experiences. Tanya makes everything personally from soups to pastas, and salad dressings to desserts, many of which are simply “created” without recipes and inspired by the beautiful proteins and vegetables she has available. The amount of specials she has at any given time range across the globe. The week I visited it was Thai, French, New American, Italian, Greek and Mexican. “Every morning I wake up at 2 A.M. and think about something else I should serve,” smiled Tanya.

It’s time to go globetrotting, and there is no need to book a ticket...A Moveable Feast located in Brunswick, is just a quick jaunt from St. Simons Island and is your passport to culinary adventure.
